It had been half a year since my wife, Iyo, and I moved to this area. The two of us, along with the neighborhood association chairmen—Mr. Ozawa, Mr. Nakata, and Mr. Otsuka—a total of five people, had come to a campground. It was supposed to be Iyo’s day to try to conceive, but I was told that everyone was participating (which was a lie), so I ended up having to join them. The chairmen were leering at my wife’s body with lustful eyes, so perhaps partly out of a desire to feel a little superior, I confessed that she was trying to get pregnant. The chairmen then told me it wouldn’t work today and forced me to drink, getting me completely drunk.
