It was a huge shock because the four of us—Tsumugi, her boyfriend, me, and my girlfriend—had been such good friends. Then it turned out my girlfriend was cheating too. We’d both been cheated on. Everything went white before my eyes. I took Tsumugi home after she’d drunk too much and passed out. The moment she said with a dazed look in her eyes, “Why don’t we do it too—cheat on our partners?”—that’s when my female friend ceased to be just a friend. A night of unprotected sex as two wounded people drew close to heal each other’s wounds.
